The 2nd Swiss 200mm Championship took place in Langenthal on the weekend of June 16 & 17.

After a brilliant start in the first race (seven NT1 cars in the final), all were looking to Team XRAY to see if they would be able to deliver such results again.

On Saturday, my mechanic and I arrived at the track at around 10AM to track. After saying ‶Hello※ to all the attendees already fully in action preparing their cars, we built our tent which served only as sun protection and not from rain because of very good weather.

The track grip was rather bad due to the numerous thunderstorms during the last few days, but very soon we realized that this track was a really tire killer! On this track, besides the very high tire wear, we also fought against the very rough chicane before the long straight. We tried different shock absorber positions and springs.

Traugot Schaer tried to find the perfect setup for his NT1, and each of us was trying different things which helped us to shave precious time. Up until to lunchtime, we where quite happy about our overall setups.

After the lunch break, we still had free practice up until 3:00PM and then we started with the first group practice sessions.

The RC club of Langenthal had organized a speed-measuring system especially for the weekend which showed us that the fastest cars on the straight line exceeded 100 kph! I was very happy about my group practice and was the only one able to get 21 laps.

After practice the track was open until 7:00PM.

Sunday morning began with a timed practice for all groups. After this practice it was clear that the NT 1 was ready to attack the pole position! (Waelti on one, Schaer on four). In all my 3 qualification runs, everything went perfectly and I could always get 21 laps in quicker times.

The drivers and cars became better and better from run-to-run, but unfortunately the grip went down with the rising temperatures.

After the timed runs it was like Wallisellen again, with six XRAY NT1 cards in the top 10.

From the first ? final, Giacomo Moretti and Monika Akermann went and qualified for the second, and Charly Krebs and Martin Wenger qualified as well for the final. This meant that six NT1 cars were qualified for the big final.

I could state the field before Mattia up to the first pitstop. By the somewhat bad pitstop, I had to live with 2nd place. Platz was behind Mattia. At this time, Traugott and Dirk were fighting for 3rd place.

After a few laps, I could get close to Mattia and overtake him then. Traugott and Dirk could also get closer to Mattia and also overtake him. In the middle of the race, Mattia went slower and had to do a pitstop again because his wheels had no tires on them anymore.

Traugott changed his rear right tire after 20min and would again make some pressure on Dirk.

For a long time I did know whether or not to change my tires. But fortunately all of us had to fight against exactly the same problem and because of that, I could keep my head start until the end.

I would like to give special thanks to my mechanic Guido who supported me the whole weekend and did a great job. Then of course to T&M Models and Hudy & XRAY for the support.

1. Wälti Beat XRAY NT1
2. Stammler Dirk
