Round 1 of the German Championship was held in Oberhausen on August 15-17. The weather prediction was good for the whole weekend and we only had a few raindrops on Sunday afternoon. There were 127 racers fighting for the TQ position in five qualification heats on Saturday after they set up their cars in five practice heats on Friday.

Tobias Kettemer had to start from 72nd position which meant a 1/32 final for him. With good performances he kept bumping up until a defect stopped him in the 1/4 final. Maximilian Trochim, Phillip Müller and René König were not able to reach the upcoming finals, so Oliver Simon and Markus Eirenschmalz were the last hope for Team XRAY in this race. Both showed a good performance in the semi-final and went up in the main final.

In the beginning of the main final Oliver had bad luck; he was kicked out 2 times by other cars so he was in last position but he had good speed and caught up to the rest of the pack. In a good battle, Oliver and Markus had several minutes driving together in the middle of the main final. Oliver overtook some more positions with Markus following in tow. At the end it was Oliver in 5th place for Oliver and Markus in 6th. Good job, guys!
