Race Report by Martin Hudy
The final (and one of the most important) carpet races before the summer season was held once again in the small German village of Eppelheim. The Modified Masters class was attended by 90 drivers and the SuperStock class by 65 drivers. The track layout was new and fast with a lot of full power-brake corners. Team XRAY was well represented as usual and once again XRAY machines were the most used cars in both Modified and SuperStock classes.

Practice started Friday afternoon and continued until 10PM. The qualifiers started on Saturday afternoon so every driver knew that there was no reason to change set-ups a lot in practice because for the first round of qualifiers the track would completely change. After practice most of the teams were more than satisfied with their cars’ performances. The fastest guys in the team were Teemu, Elliot, Steven, Dirk, and Alexander.

As expected, the traction for the first qualifier changed drastically. The fastest from the team in first round was Teemu who was able to finish in 6th place. The team showed a strong performance from the first round when we were able to take four places in the Top 10. Dirk finished 7th followed by Freddy in 9th and Steven in 10th.

The biggest challenge of this race was the level of traction because the time difference between each run was more than 3 hours and therefore a set-up that worked in the first round did not work well in the next round. As traction increased we anticipated traction rolling and overheating tires. Therefore everyone from the team decided to use harder oil in the shocks and this helped to make the car easier and more consistent.

Freddy was consistently fast in all qualifiers, when he was even able to finish twice in a great 3rd place. At the end it was Freddy who was the fastest XRAY driver, ending in 6th place. The XRAY T2’009 was the most used car in the Modified A final; Teemu, Elliot, and Dirk were able to make Top 10. The unluckiest spot - 11th - went to Alex who finished all rounds in the Top 10 but the rule of two best points out of four were not on his side this time.

The first final was definitely the most interesting one, when a huge crash in the middle of the field in the first lap mixed up positions completely. The luckiest from our team were Teemu and Freddy who were able to move through the traffic without any problems. Suddenly Teemu was in 3rd place and Freddy was 4th. Teemu was pushing really hard and was catching Victor very quickly when he hit a dot and lost some positions. From this point Freddy took over 3rd place and kept it to the end. The second and third finals were much smoother and the results did not change from the qualifiers that much.

Modified final results

1. Rheinard Marc
2. Wilck Viktor
3. Groskamp Jilles
4. Völker Ronald
5. SĂĽdhoff Freddy XRAY T2'009

7. Wischnewski Dirk XRAY T2'009
8. Graversen Steen
9. Leino Teemu XRAY T2'009
10. Harper Elliott XRAY T2'009

Although we did not finish in the top spots in the Modified class, we were very satisfied with the race because we had the most cars in the Modified A main, XRAY machines were the most used cars in both Modified and Stock classes, and we totally dominated the most popular class in Europe… Stock class.

SuperStock
The German SMI-Motorsport Team started in the SuperStock class. With team manager Bernd Haas, all XRAY drivers had perfect support and a helping hand for set-up.

SuperStock Practice
Saturday morning there were two 5-minute practice runs for the Challenge classes on schedule. The preparation of the car and the good teamwork between drivers made it possible to find a very fast set-up. Everyone of Team SMI/XRAY was satisfied with the T2’009, so we looked forward to the four rounds of qualification.
