Race report by Elliott Harper
Sunday 11th October 2009 saw the first round of Rug Racers for the 2009/10 indoor season. The meeting was held at the Wodson Leisure Centre, Ware, near Stevenage and was well attended by over 80 drivers. Doors open sharp at 07.30 on a fresh morning with all drivers seeking to do well.Format of the meeting saw an opportunity for open practice followed by 3 qualifiers and 3 finals with best 2 to count.

The initial practice went well and I was very pleased with my first race outing for the new XRAY T3 and I put the car through its paces. I was very pleased with the new car and stress the word ...NEW! This isn't an update or enhancement of the T2 series it is a whole new car from chassis, longer top deck, layshaft mounting, more centralised motor position, bulkheads and suspension holders, new steering block for better cornering, new servo saver position and ackermann and the changes go on! A super drive that was well balanced and for Lipo, I flipped the diff and belts positions around for even more balance with lipo batteries.

As for the racing, for heat 9 rounds 1, 2 and 3 the T3 took the win in each race and each time I tried a different set up it responded well. Similarly in all 3 finals, again I tested set up but for finals 2 and 3 I didnâ€t adjust the set up and the pace quickened and I took 5 secs off previous best times taking the overall win on the day.The car responded really well on the day and I am looking forward to testing again!I was really pleased with the whole event and it proved that the new XRAY T3 will be winning many races over the coming seasons.
