Race report by Danni Eyde-Nielsen
The third round of the Danish Championship (and 1st round of the regional championship), were held on Sunday, November 22 by the Brondby Racing Club. The club, as always, did a very good job of organizing the race, and for every round of the regional championships there is a lottery for a gift certificate of 2000 DKK for motorsport events.

1st Qualifier: I was fastest from the start with XRAY driver Soren Boy Holst following closely. I was putting in some pretty good lap times, but so was Soeren. After 2 minutes I made a mistake, so it was now Soeren who was in the lead, and I was second. I made some more minor mistakes, and Soeren was now 1 second ahead of me. Soeren ended 1 second ahead of me after 5 minutes.

2nd Qualifier: This time I concentrated on driving more smoothly. Soeren’s car was very hard to drive at the start, so I took the lead from the start (again). I was increasing my lead with a second ahead of Soeren, but 3 minutes into the heat, I hit a curb. My car span completely around and Soeren accidentally hit me, which was to my luck as my car spun around again the right direction. I only lost 2 seconds, and was able to take the lead again after a minute. I finished 1 second ahead of Soeren.

3rd Qualifier: I had the fastest total time after the two rounds, but I knew that my TQ wasn’t secured yet. I was starting first this time so I wouldn’t have to battle with traffic. I was driving very smoothly, while Soeren made some minor mistakes. I made a little mistake, but I didn’t lose so much time on it. I finished 1st and was able to beat the track record by 0.4sec!
A very good start for the new car.

1st Final: I didn’t change anything on my car, as it was nearby perfect. I got a good start and could get a gap down to the other guys. Soeren was coming up to me pretty fast after only 2 laps. We had a good battle, but 3 minutes into the heat I went too wide in the corner after the straightaway, which allowed Soeren to make a very nice and clean overtake on me. I tried to pass him again 2 corners later but the door was closed on me. I accidentally hit him and his car rolled onto its roof. I waited for him, and the rest of the field was coming pretty close when Soeren’s car was on the wheels again. We had a fair and good battle, but after 4 minutes I made a big mistake which allowed Soeren to cruise his car over the finish line in first place. I finished 2nd and Mike Gosvig 3rd.

2nd Final: I got a good start again, but so did Soeren. We were driving very close. Soeren hit me one time, but was fair enough to wait for me. I got a gap ahead of Soeren but he was catching up pretty fast, and I had to drive very defensively. I made a little mistake in the corner before the straightaway and Soeren tried to pass but the hole wasn’t big enough. He tried to overtake again in the chicane and we were side-by-side, but Soeren pulled back again. I managed to pull out a bit of a gap again. I was driving out on the last lap, but Soeren missed it by less than 0.1sec. I ended 1st with Soeren finishing 2nd.

3rd Final: I put 1 mm shims at the rear upright for the last final because my car didn’t had enough cornering speed. I didn’t get such a good start as the other two finals, so Soeren was right behind me. I could quickly pull away from him as my car was much better this time (I would actually say “perfect”) and Soeren had troubles with his tires being too worn. I had a comfortable lead now. I made a mistake so Soeren was right behind me again. I could again pull away from him and he was fighting a lot with his car. I finished 1st with Soeren 2nd and Mike Gosvig 3rd.
