This past weekend , the 2010 1/18th Scale On-Road Nationals were held at Rc Madness, in Enfield Ct.
This was a three day event , held at their new facility, which features a beautiful new 45 x 90 ft. ozite track .
Friday was practice all day , on Saturday three rounds of qualifiers were run , and on Sunday were the mains. We worked hard all week to get the cars dialed in and ready to race. Rc Madness's new track was awsome and had a very fun layout for 18th scale.
By the end of qualifiers, I had qualified 1st in open truck, 3rd in stock micro touring, and also 3rd in modified micro touring. Going into the mains on Sunday I was feeling good as I had some major changes to my stock car, and was feeling confident that I would be able to finish higher than I had qualified.
Unfortunately at the begining of the stock touring main, I got T-boned into the boards by someone and was taken out and broken. Robbie Dodge took home the win followed by John Cravotta. As for the main in modified touring, I battled back and forth with Mike Gee throughout the whole race, being not too far behind TQ Robbie Dodge. On the last lap and last corner before the coil, Mike Gee went for the pass on me and we both crashed and tumbled across the finish line. Mike ended up beating me by 21 hundreths of a second! I finished third. Everyone said that It was one of the most exciting races of the day. In the truck open main, I was in the lead from start to finish, finally winning by 2 full laps. Overall it was a great race, and I am already looking forward to the same event next year. |
