Race report by Jerry Davis
Around 40 buggys and truggies from all over New Zealand turned up for the 3rd running of the 2010 Wellington Champs dubbed the "Windy 500" Championship on the Capital Model Racers track. Fine weather was on the cards for practice and the majority of the field were there getting up to speed with the track and conditions.

The surface was well packed clay that had been drenched with days of rain in the week leading up to the 'Windy'. With air temperature being cold, the moisture and grip was sure to hang in there for the entire event.

Saturday dawned mainly clear with a few clouds developing later in the day. Perfect conditions for qualifying which was determined over 4 rounds with the worst round dropped. XRAY Team driver Jerry Davis seemed the man to beat in buggy after round 1. There was no change for round 2 with another top performance from Jerry and his 808'10 spec. Rounds 3 and 4 ended in a 2nd and 3rd for Jerry so TQ spot was secured with a five point buffer over 2nd place. Jerry said 'The car was awesome on the grippy surface and fast as soon as we turned up'. Jamie Buttolph and Paul 'Wildman' McBreen had good steady runs to end their qualifying session with 5th and 6th respectively.

In truggy, Paul McBreen was the top XRAY racer having a steady qualifying run and ending in 5th place. Hayden Peters in 11th and Bill Kilgour in 13th. Both Hayden and Bill had a good truggy C-Main and both made it through to the B-Main. Unfortunately that would be the positions they would end up in. Paul McBreen would eventually finish the B-Main in 3rd and was looking forward to the final.

On Sunday the weather just wouldn't play its part and the meeting was declared with only the two A-Main finals and a buggy B-Main not run. A real shame as track conditions were spot on and spirits were high. So results were taken from a mixture of qualifying positions and some B and C-Mains run. XRAY Team driver Jerry Davis took the top spot in buggy. A great result for the defending Champion. Jamie and Paul had to settle for their 5th and 6th places. Paul also finished in 7th in truggy.

XRAY was well represented and the meeting was well run by the CMR club.
