Race report by Carlos Duraes
The fith and last round of the Portuguese Nationals was held at Guarda (EUROS2010 track). All top drivers attended this race, which would end up deciding the 2010 Portuguese Champion. From my last report, the battle for the championship was only between me and Miguel Matias.
As far as the race goes, during qualifications I made too many mistakes in all heats. I felt the track was a lot slippery than in Euros, and I struggled to get my set-up right. My qualification wasn’t good but I still got my place in the Semi-Final as I intended.

During the day I’ve changed many things on my set-up to try to improve cornering and in the semi the car was much better and I finished 2nd behind Bruno Coelho.
I started the A-Main with many mistakes and Miguel Matias got a good advantage over me, as he was 2nd and I was 3rd. Our lap times were similar but he was quite more consistent than me and drove carefully without mistakes. I finished in 3rd place and with that result I’m runner-up Portuguese Champion, 2nd overall. I’m also Portuguese Junior Class Champion for the third time in the last 4 years.
Next race will be the Portuguese Cup which will be held at the Beja track in south Portugal.
As the Championship races are over, I would like to add a ‶thank you※ note to all my sponsors for this season, and to all who helped and supported me during the year.
To XRAY, RB, SAVOX - Thank you very much.
