Race report by Martin Strittmatter
The first Swiss Nationals were held at the non-permanent indoor track in Einsiedeln (CH). The host club did a very good job by building the track on Saturday morning right before the first practice. The layout was the same as at the ETS in Hrotovice, only a few times smaller! The ProStock class is an ETS-like ProStock class with the Speedpassion-Combo. The Modified class was based on EFRA rules. Handout tires were the GM Sorex28R.

On Saturday there were six rounds of timed practice and one round of qualification. In Stock class, XRAY driver Philipp Hagnauer struggled at first with the power and the set-up of the car. After some set-up work in the practice rounds, he felt confident to battle for the win. This were no mistakes, and he achieved a 2nd place in the first round of qualification.

In Modified class, new XRAY driver Martin Strittmatter (former Team Corally) dominated the practice by setting the fastest and most consistent lap times during all six rounds of practice. Without any changes in set-up he could concentrate on additive timing. The second Team XRAY driver (Mario Rigert) struggled a little bit with the car – it was fast but too difficult to drive. The first round of qualification was won by Martin Strittmatter. Mario Rigert drove the 7th best time.

The grip level changed a little bit overnight and therefore the performance of the cars changed. On Sunday there were three more rounds of qualification followed by the most important three finals.

Philipp Hagnauer performed as well as the day before and achieved the 2nd best time twice. In the last round he had a perfect run and drove the best time. Because two other drivers also had a win and a 2nd place, Philipp got the 3rd dot for the finals.

In Modified, Martin won one more round but then there was a big surprise: young driver Lukas BĂĽrgin found the perfect set-up for his Tamiya and took the pole position by only 0.3s followed by Martin. Mario could improve the performance of the car and got the 6th dot.

Because of the little gap between the drivers the spectators were very excited: who could succeed in the finals?

In ProStock the drivers in all finals were very close. The first round was won by Philipp Tschupp (ETS A-Main finalist) ahead of Philipp. But Philipp was highly motivated and succeeded in the second and third A-Mains.

In Modified, pole setter Lukas BĂĽrgin had bad luck and problems in every round. In the first main, Martin was touched by another car and was thrown back to 6th position. After a battle through the field, the second XRAY driver Mario let Martin pass by to attack the 1st position. After good teamwork, Martin could secure the win in the first round and Mario could achieve the 3rd place.
In the second A-Main, Lukas made a mistake and Martin took the lead followed by Shasa Lackner. Shasa tried to find a way to pass Martin, but unfortunately there were no possibilities. Martin took the overall win. Mario had some bad luck at the start.
Martin did not take part in the last main, and sat back to watch the action. Mario drove a good final and secured 4th position.
After his success, Martin would like to say ‶Thanks※ to Team XRAY for the great support!
