Round 1 of the Indonesian National Championship series was held at Sunter International Speedway in Jakarta on February 5, 2012. The weather was very good and a lot of racers from other cities came to the race.
Four classes would be run at this race: Superstock class with 10.5T max and boosted (the most favourite class), Stock class with 13.5T boosted, Front drive class, and Mini class. There were three 5-minute qualifications for each class, and 8-minute finals... 3 finals for A-main and B-main groups, 2 finals for C-main, and so on.
The Superstock class had 34 starters, and after three qualifications Bowie Ginting (XRAY) took 1st place with a 2-sec gap to Suwardy Suliandy in 2nd position, followed by Dimas Ardian in 3rd and Heri Susanto in 4th position only 0.1sec behind Dimas.
In the first final leg, Bowie lead by having a smooth start. Unfortunately for me, my rear belt broke in the first minute of the race which forced me to quit this final leg. Dimas made a pass on Bowie in the 3rd minute run and so he lead the race until the last minute when he made a mistake and allowed Bowie to take the win followed by Dimas in 2nd and Suwardi in 3rd position.
In the second final leg, it was a good start by all racers in the A-main. There was an accident between Suwardi and Dimas which forced both of them to quit the race. Handoko had a very good start which put him into 2nd position after Suwardiâ™s crash. Heri pushed Handoko and made a great pass but Handoko touched the back of Heri's car which caused Heri to go down to 3rd position again. Then Handoko made a mistake and Heri passed him and stay there. Again Bowie took the win (and made him champion) with Heri in 2nd position followed by Ronny in 3rd position.
The last final would determine the Vice-champion between Suwardi, Dimas, Heri, and Ronny. Bowie did not run in this third final, and Suwardi took the lead from the start. Dimas and Heri fought for 2nd position, and at the 2nd minute Heri passed Dimas and then pushed on Suwardi. But Suwardi was very tough to pass until Dimas got closer. Suwardi lead until minute 7 when he made a mistake in a corner. There was a ferocious battle between Dimas and Heri in the last minute. In the last corner before the finish line, Heri had side-to-side body contact but managed to take the win with Suwardi in 2nd and Dimas in 3rd position.
