The first national event was at a really fast track in southern Italy, at a really fabulous location: Locorotondo.
The team was really excited by the release of the new 2012 RX8 which already showed great potential in Fiorano a month ago, where Salemi Walter won a championship race ahead of the faster Italian team driver. It was the first race for Walter, and a really nice welcome into Team XRAY.

The test in Locorotondo was very difficult. It was raining on Thursday and Friday, but some drivers who were watching the forecast came on Wednesday to learn the track and set up their cars. But in the weekend, apart from the windy weather, fortunately the race was in dry conditions.
In qualification we had good car set-up, but the Italian competition in 1:8th scale is on the world level so even a small detail could make a difference. So⦠no mistake were allowed! We had good results in F2 and F1, with Vaccariello, Bracci and Brega getting 1st, 2nd, and 4th. In Expert class it was 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th after qualification.

On Sunday the weather was very good and the cars behaved really well. My brother and I made really safe semi-final finishes of 2nd and 3rd, but we were really confident for the final. Raiola and Calce were also with us in the final, making four really good RX8 in the main event.
