Race report by Kyle Spiteri
The last two rounds of the Maltese Buggy Championship took place at the M.M.O.R.R.C Off-Road track in Rinella on Sunday, May 6th. Except for the heat, which had its toll on the engines, conditions at the track were good and there was excellent grip. All drivers had to drop two of the eight rounds.

Team XRAY driver Kyle Spiteri won these last two rounds to win the day’s event and also be declared overall winner. The battle for 2nd and 3rd place was hotly contested by at least 8 drivers. In the end, XRAY driver Lawrence Mangion had to settle for 4th place overall due to an electrical problem in the last few laps.

In his first reaction after the day’s races, Kyle said that he was happy to win this year’s championship with the all new XRAY XB9, which was assembled just in time for the first round. The handling of the XB9 was excellent and the buggy was practically trouble-free throughout the whole championship. He was also pleased with the reliable performance of his Picco Boost engines, Roga Y fuel, GRP and Proline tyres.

Special thanks go to Chris from rc4speed for the valuable advice and engine tuning, and also to Kyle’s father for his support as mechanic and pitman. He finally thanked XRAY for providing a great car and all the other XRAY drivers for their efforts and participation in this year’s championship.
