Race report by Dirk Wischnewski
From 7th till 10th of June the 2nd running of the European Nitro Challenge take place in Hockenheim. The RC race track is located right next to the grandstand of the famous Hockenheim F1 Grandprix circuit. 120 racers separated in 4 racing classes take part in this well organized event.

For me practice started very good, I set the fastest lap times on Thursday. The traction was compared to last year quit good and my car handled well. Unfortunately overnight rain washed away all the traction so it was very difficult to find good set-up for the remaining days. In qualifying I still struggle a little bit with the set-up for this ulta low grip conditions. So I qualified 2nd 1.5 sec behind Eric Dankel.

The start of the 45 minute main finale on Sunday went quit well, Eric lead the race closely followed be me and Mark Green. After about 10min I was very lucky as the car of a back-maker spun out right in front of me and I crashed into the sliding car with full speed. Luckily no big damage on my car but after this insistent my car felt a little bit tweaked and and I lost slowly time to Eric and Mark. About 30min into the race both Eric and Mark had some transmission problems so I was able to take the lead. For the remaining 10min I reduced a little bit the pace in order to save my tires and make sure to not run out of tires at the last minutes. At the end everything worked out fine and I take the win.
