The last race of 2013 Portuguese Nationals happened at Maiorca track on the north shore of Portugal in a beautiful city of Figueira da Foz. We had a great time there with many friends, warm weather and an amazing sea view.
We start on Saturday with practice. The track was a bit bumpy with almost no grip in the begining. The attendance was noticeably lower than on previous rounds due to the fact that the championship was almost decided. But surprises happen all the time, so XRAY team was there ready to race in full force.
In Sunday qulifications Bruno got TQ in both classes. The 1/10 nitro finals went easy for Bruno who led the race from start to finish and cross the finish line 5 laps ahead second driver, his teammate Rogerio Araujo.
1/8 nitro finals was a different story. Bruno led the race until the moment when the track marshall wanted to get another car back on track and didnâ™t see Brunoâ™s RX8 coming right at him. In the accident the track marshall got injured and Brunoâ™s car with a small damage fell down to 8th place. Bruno then went to the box to get the breakage fixed and started to push hard to make his way up through the pack. With only 3 shocks he was able to get back to 2nd place.
Overall, Bruno won the 2013 nationals in both categories and would like to thank XRAY for the trust given to him and for the support throughout the whole season.
