Race report by Alexander Hagberg
The 2015 European Championships for 1/10 Electric touring cars was held at the Torres Novas track in Portugal. It was the 2nd time that this track was the host of this event. The track is fairly technical and with medium grip. The XRAY team was in full attendance, expecting to do well both in the Modified and the Spec class.

In modified, myself and Bruno Coelho were the pace setters in practice and qualifying. Eventually the qualifying ended with a twist as it was shortened by one round due to a power failure during Q4. Unfortunately for myself, Ronald Völker made the best use of this unexpectedly cold track conditions in Q5, to take the TQ on the tie breaker for fastest time. This meant that I would line up 2nd and Bruno 3rd on the grid. I was not that worried though, as I knew that our car was much stronger and had more grip especially towards the end of the run. We were going to give Ronald a good match in the finals

In A1, myself and Ronald were the only front runners on new tires. I knew as the tone went off that I had a good chance to catch him. The first overtaking attempt was not successful as I rode the curb too hard, and thus sent Ronalds car on its roof. I had to wait, but could eventually track him down again to make the overtake and win A1 in the closing stages of the run!

In A2, Bruno Coelho took a straight forward win, overtaking myself and Ronald within the first few laps, making the best use of his new tires, to take the win. I only managed 4th in that run, as I struggled on old tires.

The A3 would be the deciding main. The tone went off, and Ronald opened up a small gap. Eventually I managed to close that gap, with Bruno also close behind me. I managed to stay within Ronalds pace for the duration of the final, but with no clear chance to overtake. Ronald took the win of that final, but his time was not fast enough to beat my winning time from A1.

I was extremely happy to hear that this performance was enough to award me the European Championship title!

I am super happy and proud for this moment. Even though being set back in that last qualifier, I fought back today to take the win. Our T4 car has been superior once again. As I finished 2nd at this venue just 2 years ago, it felt great to take the win this time. It just shows that mine and my teams touring car program has improved! It was the first EC title for XRAY in electric touring cars in the modified class! Years of hard work has finally paid off. We have been at the top of our game, and are certainly looking forward to the future events!

Congratulations to Bruno Coelho for his podium finish in 3rd. It is a pleasure and inspiration to work with Bruno in this team. Congratulations also to our team leader and designer Martin Hudy for making the A-main and finishing in 8th position! And also to Marco Kaufmann for making the Euros A-final once again! 4 XRAY T4 cars in the main final is a great result!

In the spec class, Marek Cerny converted his TQ into a win with two tone to tone finishes in A1 & A2.

This meant that Marek would be European Champion in this category for the 2nd consecutive time.

Jan Ratheisky finished in a strong runner-up position, and Pierre Delorme rounded out the podium for XRAY in 3rd! XRAY had 5 cars in the main final, with Jean Delorme and Mike Gosvig also making the main for XRAY. It was fantastic to see such a domination by our team in the popular spec class!

David Perez added to these two titles another one, the title of the European Junior Champion. As such our team was leaving the 2015 European Championship with 3 titles – modified, stock & junior.
