After 4 rounds of qualifying the grid position for the mains was set with Saxton as TQ. The A main consisted of 4 XRAY XB8’s, 4 Thunder Tiger and 2 Crono’s all which had the opportunity to go home with the gold. At the start of the main, Wayne Mah (XRAY) got a hole shot out into the lead from the 3rd starting position into turn 1 avoiding an evitable pile up which allowed only a couple of cars to slip by without problem.

We arrived in Kingsville Ontario Thursday, July 28th. It was very humid out with temperatures around 25 Degrees Celsius.

Friday was open practice and we had a great chance to try out the track. The track was located right in the middle of a populated neighborhood; the locals seemed to enjoy watching the racing throughout the weekend and even filled the parking lot to watch the main events.

This had been the first race at Action Hobbies Kingsville; therefore the track went though various changes throughout practice on Friday, making it hard to find a perfect setup. The track held up really well considering it had never been run on before. The dirt was easy on tires, but still had traction. This was a new condition for us and we struggled a little getting a good race set up on the car.

1st thing Saturday morning a local racer had decided to buy a XB8R which many of us pitched in to build before qualifying started, we all worked together as a team and he made the 2nd qualifier that day! The people at the race were amazing, I felt like I never left home.

Qualifying went pretty good, the track held up well and my car felt great considering we were still testing a few key things. The team was working on finding a good set up for the main event as we figured parts of the track were going be rough and changes needed to be made. We struggled in qualifying because of this but still managed to put 4 drivers in the ‶A※ main with a good race strategy in place for the long 45 minute â€A’

Sunday was a lot hotter than the past few days, reaching temperatures of 31 Degrees Celsius. We had a last chance qualifier, but I was unable to pull a good qualifier together the whole weekend and had to start 3rd behind Dave Henry in 2nd and Richard Saxton in 1st.

Before the main, I had decided to make a couple of changes to my setup to get consistent laps in the long final. The change helped out and I was very comfortable with the car after a few warm up minutes.

The start of the race was the usual dash into the first corner and hope you get out clean. I had squeezed the throttle right when the flag was raised and shot past Henry and Saxton, leaving them to be tangled up with the rest of the pack. I had been dicing with another driver for a couple of laps where he pulled ahead for a lap. I gathered consistency over the next few laps and pulled away from the field. At this point I backed off and stayed off my lid, holding the 1st place position for the remaining 45 minutes.

I would like to thank everyone that made our team feel at home at this event. The track owners, racers everyone, it was our pleasure to be there.

Also would like to thank my sponsors for the continued support. Can West R/C, XRAY Canada, XRAY/HUDY, R/C America, Werks Racing Collari and Panther Racing tires.

The story starts Friday night as open practice is coming to an end, Darko Varga local racer is having trouble with his 1/8th scale buggy ( not an XRAY XB8 ) As he is packing up his equipment for the night one of the local XRAY Canada drivers, Rick Endler plants a seed in Darko's head, buy the XB8R in the shop, all the XRAY drivers here will have you running in 2 hour's... :)

So Saturday morning and Darko walks into the shop and brings out the XB8R kit for all of us to build. So we all tear into the box and start building...

Wayne and Way Mah on the shocks I was on the centre Diff assembly and Dennis Liew was building the front and rear diffs. Aaron Stratus ( a local XB8 owner) was working on the front assembly with Jason Green on the rear and Bill green putting the radio tray together, Darko the happy owner was watching all the activity, thinking..WOW, XRAY really does give awesome customer support..LOL ( we did let him put the motor mounts on )

There were more people helping if I have missed your names I am very sorry it was a bit of a blur...

Darko ended up in the c main very happy being able to run 9 laps in his best qualifier, this was more then a lap faster then his previous car. Having run the track his first day with the XRAY XB8R he was grinning cheek to cheek.

In Closing, XRAY Canada (Can West R/C) Would like to thank all the loyal XRAY owners of Canada for he support and feedback we receive while attending these great events.
