Team XRAY Canada helped support the 5th annual Karl Mackie memorial Race Against Cancer November 4 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. There were over 100 entries thisyear in the single-day event which was originally started by Tim Mackie (son of the late Karl Mackie who died of cancer at too young an age) and 5 other racers getting together to race in Karl's memory.

Yes that's right, only 6 entries in the first year. Word of the event started to spread and it has literally doubled in size every year since. This year's race had a total of 102 entries! An incredible turnout for a single day event. Nearly everything for the race was supplied by the race sponsors, except for an assortment of baked goods provided by Tim's family as a heartfelt thank you for the support of the racers.

DeGroot's, a local greenhouse/nursery, cleared out one of their greenhouse facilities to provide a venue to set up the temporary ozite track. Classes run at the event included, TC stock, TC 19T, 1/12 scale, Open Micro on-road, and Open Micro offroad, and 4-cell oval. The oval class is a tribute to Tim's father Karl, as he and Tim ued to race oval together.

This year's event raised over 2500 $ for the Canadian Cancer Society, and plans are already underwayfor next year's event.
