Racing Pedigree
During the 2006 racing season, the XRAY XB8 proved itself the leader in the off-road market both on and off the track. Awarded with the coveted Car of the Year title, the XB8 has captured numerous national titles around the world, gaining the most prestigious European Champion title, making the XB8 one of the world’s most successful off-road cars. The XRAY Development Team continued its development and improvement of the XB8, bringing forth in 2007 the improved and optimized XB8 – the European Champion edition. All of the major improvements and updates are not visible at first glance but are instantly felt once you hit the track. From the new improved front suspension allowing more downtravel, through the updated steering blocks allowing more steering, along with completely new big bore shocks improving the handling, all the way to the all new chassis with optimized weight balance significantly improving the performance on bumpy tracks, all this... making the car not only easy to drive but also making it a top performer under all racing conditions. No matter if you drive on flat fast track, on a bumpy technical track, or enjoying super-high jumps, the XB8 handles the different racing conditions with top performance.

More Front Suspension Downtravel
The modified front suspension arms on the XB8-EC now allow for even greater down travel, which makes the car easier to control over big jumps, but especially will increase the traction and provide improved suspension on bumpy track surfaces. The front shock tower was redesigned to allow greater downtravel.

New Redesigned Shocks
Off-road performance depends highly on perfectly working shock absorbers, and as such, the new XB8 shocks were completely redesigned to give the very best performance possible. The most significant improvement and change is the bore of the shocks, which was increased to allow for a higher volume of oil for improved damping characteristics. The new large bore shock pistons were designed and manufactured with a completely new molding process to ensure optimum tolerance and roundness of the pistons which move freely and very precisely inside the shock body. The shock body design was also improved, with the lower part of the shock body being made straighter so even in extreme cases when the piston hits the bottom of the shock, the piston will hit with the full surface so there is no risk of piston warping or breaking.

Improved Weight Balance
One of the most significant improvements in the handling of the XB8 is the improved weight balance. The new chassis puts the engine weight more rearward which stabilizes and improves the handling of the car in bumpy conditions and incredibly improves it in jumps and when landing from large jumps. The handling of the XB8 has never been so comfortable and precise as it is now. You will enjoy full control over the car in all different track conditions.

Front Arm Design update
The XB8-EC features the long and strong arms of the XB8-TQ, however these arms were additionally milled in critical areas which have direct influence and impact on the amount of downtravel and steering. With these modifications, the new arms allow the maximum downtravel and highest possible steering.

Steering Blocks update
In addition to the suspension arms, the front steering block were also modified with extra milling allowing the steering block to have increased turning radius to gain extra steering, which greatly improves the handling and makes the car even easier to drive on all tracks. The steering blocks still feature genuine XRAY construction; the very lightweight blocks are molded from extra-stiff composite mixture with molded-in steel bushings where the steering blocks are mounted to the suspension, ensuring a wobble-free and ultra-tight steering block assembly.

Reinforced Chassis Braces
The front and rear braces have significant influence on chassis stiffness and this has great impact on the car handling under different track grip conditions. The composite braces have proven to be the most frequently used in most racing conditions and as such the design was modified and updated to make the braces stronger to withstand extreme conditions after big jumps, preventing tweaking or breakage.

Extra-robust composite braces are keyed to the chassis, guaranteeing overall chassis stiffness but still being flexible enough to allow the car to generate sufficient grip and provide the desired steering characteristics.

Steering Pivot Balls with Backstops
The very popular steering pivot balls with backstops feature an updated ball shape, which allows increased downtravel. The specially-designed backstops guarantee that even under oversteering conditions or crashes the steering rod assembly will not disconnect. The pivot balls are manufactured from exclusive HUDY Spring Steel™ to guarantee the highest strength and lifespan.

New Shock Parts
Most of the internal parts of the shocks have undergone a complete facelift and improvement: new shock bodies, new pistons, new shock rods, new o-rings, new shock cap, improved lower shock collar, new rubber boots, new internal shape.

The new big bore pistons are manufactured from well-proven specially formulated plastic compound to provide smoother action and durability. A new production process has been used to improve the roundness of the pistons after production, ensuring that the pistons will move perfectly ensuring identical shock action in all four shocks.

The new shock membranes were slightly redesigned, and are now wider to fit the new big bore shocks. The material has been also improved to guarantee the same dampening characteristics from the beginning of the race to the end even after excessive overload on the shocks. XRAY’s commitment to perfection is evident by measuring and selecting every membrane thickness to ensure that all four membranes in the set have same dampening characteristics.
The shock O-rings are newly manufactured from a new silicone compound to allow ultra-free movement of the shock rod while still maintaining a tight seal in the shock body. Shock rod movement has never been freer.

Stronger Servo Saver
To ensure more precise and sharp dialing of the car into corners, the servo saver is now 30% stronger while still soft enough to protect the servo in a crash. The servo saver is hardcoated to eliminate the possibility of thread stripping due to dusty conditions.

New XRAY Body
The XB8-EC comes with the new XRAY lightweight racing body which is 30% lighter than standard bodies. The front nose has reinforced edges where it fits around the front shock tower, cutting down on body tears. The area around the engine has been specially designed to promote airflow into and around the engine head to assist with engine cooling. The sides of the bodies have a tight fit to the sides of the car to minimize the amount of dirt entering the chassis. This also helps in wet conditions.
