Report by Alexandre Hagberg
XRAY is 2x Australian Champions with X12’25

The 2024 Australian On-road electric Championships was held at the Templestowe club near Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. The race saw a sold out entry of 150, split on 5 different classes.

The race was held over the course of 4 days, during November 21-24. Very high ambient and track temperatures meant challenging conditions for drivers, as practice went down on the Thursday and Friday. Solaris 36 controlled tires were used, together with an RC Maker additive and tire cleaner.

Poor weather conditions eventually meant that the event had to be shortened to 3 qualifiers only, with those qualifiers eventually having to be used to call a final event result, as rain continued on Sunday morning and afternoon.

In the 12th scale modified class, I was able to TQ all 3 qualifiers by a decent margin, proving the great performance of the new X12’25 chassis also on an asphalt surface. I really enjoyed the car’s handling as I was quickly able to find the right setup, even with such limited experience running on this surface! I was able set a new lap record in the process as well!

Michael Stone won the national title in the 13.5T Stock category, further showcasing the performance of the X12’25 car, which Michael ran in a close to standard configuration, including the use of an aluminium chassis!

21.5T TC was a highly contested class, and young Logan Rintoul flew the flag high for XRAY with a strong runner up finish, with Rob Storey rounding out the podium in 3rd!

The competitive Junior TC category saw Ryan Parkinson take his X4’25 car to a strong 3rd place finish. Congratulations Ryan!

Thanks to all XRAY and HEI drivers for your attendance, for your hard work and for your great results! Special thanks to Michael Stone for the exceptional track side support and team management! Racing in Australia was a pure pleasure once again. Until next time!
