Hessen Cup - Rnd 4 |
|
The 4th German Hessen Cup was held in Ober-Mörlen on June 8th on a well-prepared track. It was wet at the beginning of Saturday and just as the track got dry it rained again; the training sessions had to be stopped due to a thunderstorm. Some drivers had another training session in the afternoon but the cars were really dirty. Nevertheless, a Junior final was held in the evening, and was won by Dennis Eckfelder. Sunday morning it was still a bit wet and qualification started at 9:00AM. Due to the high amount of starters we only had 2 rounds of qualification and it was Maximilian Trochim (XRAY XB808) that claimed 2nd place behind Maximilian Cordts at the front of the Expert class. In the Hobby class, Jan Allendörfer (XB808) was in 1st place, followed by Patrick Täger (XB8EC) in 2nd place. |

The final was a very close battle between Maximilian Cordts and Oliver Simon (XB808) all through the heat; Oliver took the lead in the beginning, was passed by Maximilian after a brief mistake, and then retook the lead from Maximilian again. Maximilian Trochim had problems and eventually got 9th place. In the Hobby class final it was Jan Allendörfer that lead from start to finish. Thomas Masthof (XB8EC) and Patrick Täger had a close battle for 2nd until Patrick had an engine stoppage. Thomas took home 2nd place ahead of Oliver Ganzow.

Hessen Cup - Rnd 3 |
|
The third race of the Hessen Cup was held in Bischofsheim on May 27, 2008. As usual the Rhein-Main-Circuit was very well prepared for crowd of over 100 drivers. All XB808 drivers were confident that they held an advantage over other drivers due to the easy driving of the car. We worked a bit on the setup this time and changed some shock and diff oils; this was the first time that the setups were different from the basic setup. Facing engine trouble, Oliver Simon had to start from the 1/8th final but he easily reached the semi-final. |

nfortunately, his car suffered a rupture of the
pressure fuel line while he was in 2nd position, and he had to give up because he wasn't able to start the engine again. In Hobby class, XB808 driver Jan Allendörfer was also having a bad day. His rear tire became loose and the mechanics decided to change the wheel; de would have made his way to
the final but he cut a corner and had a stop-and-go penalty. Unfortunately, his mechanic refueled during the stop-and-go so he had to get in the pits another time. |

He closed up on the last final qualifier but made another mistake and then he was out. But again there were 2 Hobby drivers taking a double podium finish: Patrick Täger (XB8EC) in 1st and Thomas Masthof (XB8EC) in 3rd. They performed very well and took the victory. In the Expert main final it was Rene König (XB808) in 5th position and Katja Brammertz (XB808) in 6th position. Thanks again to all XRAY drivers. |

Hessen Cup - Rnd 2 |
|
The second race of the Hessen Cup was held in Hartenrod on May 20, 2008. Again, a very large amount of drivers (94) showed up for this round. The weather, like every year, was not very good on Saturday but perfect on Sunday. The track was well prepared and not covered with grass, which made tire choice difficult (as usual). I still used the basic setup but changed the shock positions in front and rear to get more grip in the corners. The qualification heats went perfectly for me and I was the only one who could reach 15 rounds in 5 minutes. In the semi-final I pulled away to get a gap on the others, but an engine stoppage got in the way a bit. I was forced to go even faster (after dropping down 1 lap) and I was able to win the semi. In Hobby class, Bertram Kessler (XB8EC) took 3rd place and Thomas Masthof (XB8EC) took 4th place in the first semi-final. The second semi-final was dominated by Patrick Täger (XB8EC) ahead of Jan Allendörfer (XB808). I had to take a timeout prior to the Expert main final but needed only one lap to get back to the top of the field. For me it was very easy to take the victory because the car performed so well on the track. In Hobby class we again filled it with XRAY drivers, with Jan Allendörfer ahead of Patrick Täger and Thomas Masthof. Jan had a 1 lap advantage, and 2nd and 3rd place saw a good fair battle between Patrick and Thomas. Thanks to all of Team XRAY for the great performance. |

Hessen Cup - Rnd 1 |
|
The first race of the Hessen Cup was held in Flemlingen on April 20, 2008. It was the first rollout for German XB808 drivers on a smooth, open, medium-grip track. There was no practice on Saturday due to the all-day rain showers. Drivers started with the basic setup and didn't change anything except the tires. It was a new record of drivers in this class, where of the 100 drivers there were 35 in the Expert class and 65 in the Hobby class. The XB808 drivers could easily attain better results than the seasons before and they were very happy with the performance of the car. In Expert class it was Oliver Simon who took the lead easily in the main final, but flamed out due to a fuel shortage. He made it back to the top of the field and took home 3rd place. He was very satisfied with the car and noted (along with every other XB808 driver) that the car was very easy to drive and the tires were like new after a 30min final. Another XB808 driver, Maximilian Trochim, had problems in the semi-final and couldn't reach the main final. In Hobby class the podium was completely filled with XRAY XB8EC drivers: Thomas Masthof in 1st, Steven Junk in 2nd, and Patrick Täger in 3rd place. All-in-all it was a very good showing for the combination of XRAY and Orcan products. |
