Race report by Thilo Alexander Toedtmann
Round #3 of western Germany regional was held at famous MRC Oberhausen track. 51 racers from 5 different coun-tries made their entry with weather forecast of 24degree without any rain. Known for its very high grip surface cause mainly raced by 1/5scale cars, on one hand needing a lot of steering for the two hairpins and tight chicanes and on the other hand the danger of traction rolling the car, makes setup quite difficult.

Due to job commitments i arrived Sunday morning without being able to practice on Saturday. Participate at the ENS last weekend held on controlled tires; I struggled at the beginning with racing on much softer tires on such a high grip surface, despite knowing the track very well.

As there were no direct qualifiers into the Main final everyone has to do the 20minutes semi finals. Winning my semifi-nals quite easy we decided to remove the flex of the radio-plate and also switching from a solid-axle back to a differen-tial in the front. That gave the car a much more predictable feeling for the 30min Final encounter.

After the Start of the Main-Final I flipped my car because of the bigger tires falling back from 1st to 10th. Pushin really hard right from the start fighting my way back to the front I know the biggest challenger would be Andreas Weyhoven who planned to run a 6minute fuel-stop strategy doing consistent laps and two less fuel-stops.

Also tire-strategy would play a big issue as tire wear on the right side was two times higher than left. My mechanic did some awesome calculation on the tires and no further problems and perfect pit stops during the rest of the race secured me the win with a 2 lap margin over the rest of the field.
