Race report by Mike Gosvig
The last round of Danish nationals was held in the big shopping center near Copenhagen named City2, the organizer was the Broendby RC club who made a deal with the round 5 organizer – Faxe RC club and borrow their track. It was amazing facility in the big shopping center with a good atmosphere and happy people looking for good racing! Simply the Broendby racing club and the Faxe club, made a good move to work together to make a great last race of the indoor season. The track was almost the same only with some small tweaks that I think gave the race much more flow and attraction.

In the practice my car was pretty good, I tried some different setup things and a body extreme forward, it came all out very good and after 3 practice rounds I was able to make the fastest lap of the race, my car was also very easy to drive on this quite bumpy track.

Also young fellow XRAY driver Patrick Danielsen made some good laps around the track to start 2nd to the qualifiers. My fastest 3 laps was: 39.672sec, and Patrick made: 40.496sec. All the XRAY drivers found a really good and easy setup to start the qualys.

Qualifying rnd. 1:
Car was super easy to drive, and very fast as in the practice, I could easy pull out a big gap down to the second place who was Patrick Danielsen battled with Soren Boy Holst. Unfortunately Patrick rolled his car on the last lap and needed to be marshalled, he lost 3,5seconds, but still managed to get 3rd in this round. Jack Holger made a good run to get the 4th place in round 1. I pulled a 7,5second gap down to nr. 2nd Soren Boy Holst.

Qualifying rnd. 2:
Car was again super good, but the grip was becoming worse and worse, because of the track getting hotter and sun was on the half of the track, so it was very hard to see the track markers in the end part of track. I took it easy because of the sun issue, but still managed to get my second TQ with 4,2 second down to Soren again in 2nd place, after Patrick Danielsen made a lot of mistakes. This would let Jack Holger to take the 3rd place with Patrick only 6 tenths behind Jack!

Qualifying rnd. 3:
Again almost same story as in round 2. But without the sun issue, car was amazing, I only had some small problems with back markers and lost around 1.8seconds because of that. I managed to wrap to the early TQ spot to take the round 3 win with 6seconds down to Soren boy and again good drive from Jack Holger in the 3rd spot, Patrick again fast enough for second spot but made some mistakes. Jeppe Svendsen also made a good round to get the 6th place.

Qualifying rnd. 4:
I tried the body I ran at the ETS rnd. 2 and 2.7 springs in the rear of the car as I needed some more corner speed. This resulted in to be a very good choice, as the car got a lot more easy and fast, I took my 4th TQ, with Patrick Danielsen in the second place and Jack Holger in 3rd place, to make XRAY 1,2,3 in round 4. It was nice to see Patrick get second even with 2.6 seconds of mistakes. I won this round with 9seconds down to Patrick, this was the last heat of Saturday race.

Sunday race started early morning in the big shopping center with the 5th and last round of qualifying.

Qualifying rnd. 5:
I rebuilt my shocks for this final round, because I founded my car drift a little in the last round yesterday. This made my car even easier and a little faster, the track was also a bit colder and faster this morning. I again TQ’ed this round with 7,2 second down to Soren Boy Holst in 2nd place, I was almost as fast as in the opening round of qualifying only 5 tenths from the fastest 5minutes run. So I was very happy with my car now, and I felt it was very good and ready for finals later that day. Patrick was on target of this 2nd second place this round but again later in this heat hit some track markers, and went down to the 4th spot, again Jack Holger showed his good pace to get the 3rd in the last round of qualification.

7. Jeppe Svendsen – XRAY T4
8. Soren Andersen

Young Kevin Nielsen missed the a-main with only 1 point, but later this race day he made some very nice driving in the b-mains to win the overall B-main!

Final nr.1:
I started to pull an early gap to 2nd place Soren, who had Patrick on his wing, but after 2 laps Patrick made a mistake and ended on the roof. This let Jack Holger to follow Soren. But Jack couldn’t get up to Soren to race for the 2 place, so in the last laps he took it easy to get the 3rd spot in this main. I won this main with 7seconds down to Soren. Patrick made a 5th place.

Final nr.2:
Again easy start to pull away front the rest of the field, I managed to win this final by 6 seconds down to Soren, but not easy 2nd place because Patrick was out of mistakes this time and was chasing Soren down to the last lap! Patrick was only 3 tenths behind Soren this main, Jack Holger made a 4th place some seconds behind Patrick. I could wrap up the overall win of round 6 of the nationals, and also score full house in the overall National standings, to become Danish National Champion for the 9th time!

Final nr.3:
Now I wanted to try a harder diff to get some more steering in the high speed sweeper after the straight and also get some more steering on the throttle, I changed from 5000 oil to 6000 oil and the car was much faster and a little bit easier to drive at the same time. I made the fastest main win time, and won the final with 8,3second down to Soren, he was again chased by Patrick who found his driving much better after the 2nd final. Patrick was only 4 tenths behind Soren at the end of the race, he said he couldn’t find the way to pass Soren, but was happy with his 3rd overall place in the race! Jack would again take the 4th spot.
