Race report by Robin Frischkopf
The 4th Swiss Championship took place in Viggiu just over the border in Italy at the track of the Valceresio Racing Team. This track is very challenging with lots of elevation changes, jumps, and at least 4 different surfaces including different grades of Astro turf. There were about 100 drivers filling the expert and amateur categories and enjoying the hot and sunny weather.

My setup balance felt already very good from the beginning so after a few minor changes in diff and shock oils I concentrated on engine setup, which was a bit harder than usual because of the hot and humid air, and finding a tyre that worked well on all the surfaces. On Saturday I qualified in the third spot.

On Sunday I finished the semifinal where I started in second place with no issues and that got me position two for the final. The start of the final went well and the first few minutes were very intense. In the first few laps I lost two places against Patrick Hofer and Joachim Kallen, then Jeremy Pittet made a mistake and dropped back to fourth. I was able to get the positions I lost back during some close fights and was then even leading the race for a while.

Then Jeremy came back very strongly and got back in the lead. Even though he had to pit one more time than I did, my FX ran flawlessly for 9 minute stints, I couldn't do a lot because I was just missing that last half a second per lap, and let him go and concentrated on keeping second place against Joachim and Patrick who were pushing strongly.

I only made very few mistakes over those long 45 minutes and in the end I finished in second position 12 seconds clear of Patrick. After some very bad luck in the first three races, where in each one I had the speed to compete for the win, it was nice to finally get on the podium again.
