Race of Champions took place on 27th September in Leno. Drivers were divided in many classes: Pan Car, Formula Class, 13.5 Blinky and Modified. Race started in wet conditions and the organization decided to eliminate the standard qualifications and to decide the finals starting grid with a âśSuper Poleâť counting 3 consecutive fastest laps.
Pan Car Class:
Luigi Giussani was TQ and final winner of this class, followed by Domenico Putignano 2nd both in qualifications and after finals, and Gianni Martinelli 3rd starting from 8th position.
13.5 Blinky Class:
Luca Giovannoni was the leader in this class starting from the 3rd position. In second position was Danny Giacomelli and Davide Tomasoni was 3rd.
Modified Class:
In modified class the race was very tight. After the unusual qualification system I was 3rd, signing the fastest laps but not 3 consecutive fastest laps. In Front of me Kyle Brenson TQ and Dario Balestri 2nd. In First final I was able to overtake both Dario and Kyle but at the end I was only 2nd due to a little touch of Kyle while I was overtaking him side by side. In second final Kyle and Dario crashed themselves so I won. In third final me, Dario and Kyle broke the rear right tire in the order so Kyle was the final Winner. Some bad luck for me also in this race but Iâ™m really happy about my car. I would like to congratulate Enrico Avoni for his race. He finished 4th starting from 5th position.
