Took the 4 hour drive up to Worksop in the UK on Saturday ready for the Northwest regionals on the Sunday. We arrived at the track at 9am on the Sunday and set up.

Having only raced F1 at my local club Frome RCCC I was a bit apprehensive about the level of competition. Practice went reasonably well with a few small mistakes learning the layout leaving me with the fastest lap.

With qualifying underway I made a few unforced errors in Q1 but still sat 3rd overall.

Q2 was to be my best run with only 1 error putting me TQ and considerably quicker than the other cars on track.

Q3 and Q4 I struggled with traction roll due to the amount of foam tyred cars in the other classes laying down grip. This is not an issue i am familiar with at our local club. My time from Q2 was still good enough for 2nd place on the grid.

A main final, it started well and I kept my 2nd place up until lap 5 where I was lapping a backmarker. While trying to avoid them I touched the brakes in a corner causing the car to traction roll off the track. I dropped to 5th but managed to get back to 3rd and was catching 2nd, 1st was out of reach.

So a very good days racing that showed what a great car the X1 is. 8 out of the top 10 cars were XRAY's. Let’s see what the future holds
