SARDA Round 5, Middelburg, 14 â“ 15 November 2015
XRAY 4 x TQ and 4 x WIN at SARDA 2015 On-Road Electric Nationals, Round 5 RC Zone Middelburg
The fifth and last of the 2015 South-African ORE national championship moved to RC Zone in Middelburg over weekend 14 and 15 November 2015. Due to the non-completion of the re-build of the original venue, the dates were delayed and the venue moved to RC Zone. Unfortunately not all the drivers could attend but a great national event was hosted. Free practise was held on Thursday and Friday in very hot conditions. On Saturday morning before the qualifying rounds started it started raining and the whole day was eventually cancelled. Sunday morning showed great weather and the event started at 07:15 with four rounds of qualifying and two rounds of finals.
Tyronne Wilken dominated from the first qualifier with his XRAY and left the field behind to take a great TQ. He unfortunately had some electrical issues with a DNF in the first main which gave John Steyn a good win. Tyronne managed to win the second main but had to settle for second place on the count back which gave John the win for the weekend. Paul van der Westhuizen kept good pace to grab the last podium spot.
