Race report by Aden Young
The weekend started on Friday morning. My XRAY XB2 felt good but I needed to make some modifications as it was lacking rear end traction when exiting corners. So we made some changes. Thanks to all the Team XRAY Australia for all their help over the weekend. After the changes the car felt amazing. There was one run I came off the and said to Dad (my pit crew ) it feels like driving my touring car.

Saturday started with setting up the pits and getting car ready. We entered my car in Concourse and it was to be 1 of 5 chosen , the winner would be picked from one these 5 . This would be announced at the completion of the meeting. The first qualifier was great. The car felt amazing and the driver was ok too. The day was looking good. After 4 qualifiers I was Top Qualifier. The feeling was awesome.

The finals came around. The car was prepped and I had brand new tires on it. The starting hooter went off and I was away. I got a very clean start. That race was probably the best race I have ever had.I finished in 1st place. I was confident but trying not to think about it too much. Final No 2 I didn't have the best start, I crashed on a pipe and lost a little bit of time. I put my head down and drove as hard as I could and at the end of the race I was in 1st position and I was the Junior NSW State Champion. To say I was happy would be an understatement. We still had one more final to run. We made a major change to the gearing to try something that Dad had been wanting to all day. This change made the car a fair bit faster, during the race I actually ran my fastest lap time of the whole weekend. I finished 1st in this final. This concluded the 2wd section of the weekend. I had 7 races on the day and had 7 1st places.

Bring on 4wd day. I had been only racing my XRAY XB4 for 6 months and it was feeling awesome. I was seeded in the ‶B※ group with some very fast guys. I was fast but not fast enough for the ‶A※ group. I wasn't far off it though. Only a few seconds away. I qualified 9th in the ‶B※ group. In first final was good I worked all the way up to 3rd. The car was fast and was handling like a dream. The second final was good but I had a few little errors. Overall the weekend was super fun. The good results where a bonus to the weekend. Can't wait to do it all again. Bring on the 2017 Australian Titles in late October.

Thank you to all my sponsors #XRAY #HEI #PROLINE #TEAMXRAYAUSTRALIA and BLR Designs for the painting of my shells and also Dad, Miranda and Mum for all their support . Without this valuable support I wouldn’t be able be following my dreams .
