The last round of the Danish Championship was this weekend at the www.hrcr.dk, north of Copenhagen. Again the weather and race conditions were perfect. Peter Harder had two victories and a second spot from the previous rounds − so winning this last round would secure the 2005 title for Xray XB8.

The Danish league is getting stronger and stronger and 1:8 off road are right now one of the toughest classes within RC. The 4 rounds of qualifying also demonstrated this with tight racing between the three Xray Drivers Peter Harder, Robert Hansen and Rune Gustavsen plus Kyosho driver Max Pedersen and Mugen driver Steffen Culmsee. In the end it was Xray all over in top three with Peter Harder TQ followed by Robert Hansen and Rune Gustavsen.

The track was very dusty and the grip low so I decided to go with 10.000 in both the rear and center diff which really gave better grip, acceleration and handling of the car. I only tested a lot on tires and other small things − again the choice was on the GRP Joly tires.

Xray had a good race and 5 cars made it to the final. In the 45 minutes final it was also Xray dominating the race − in the beginning Peter Harder was followed by Robert Hansen − but Robert went into technical problems. Then it was Janus Harder who moved to second, but he ran into engine problems. Then it was a battle for second between another Xray driver, Rune Gustavsen and Steffen Culmsee/Mugen. After 45 minutes of stable driving and a 2,5 lap victory Peter Harder could celebrate the championship title.

It has been a funny and exciting first season for me with the 1:8 Buggy class. I have not had one single problem with the XB8, no retirements from finals or qualifying due to technical car problems. WOW what a quality car. I now look forward to next year with even more drivers in the line up and new tracks to compete on. See you all in 2006.
