The 2018/19 season of XRS Slovenia started with the race at the Genius Ring in Medeuzza. This year the track layout stayed the same, but the driving direction was clockwise, so all the drivers had to learn the opposite wayâ¦and they liked it. Drivers from 6 different countries â“ Austria, Croatia, Denmark, France, Italy and Slovenia â“ came to this race trying to give their best and possibly to win.
On Saturday we had free practice and most of the approximately 50 registered drivers were already there to find the best set-up and speed for the race.
The first big surprise happened already on Saturday when Stefano Poloniato brought us a fantastic XRS edition cakeâ¦it was delicious!
Sunday after the briefing we started with qualifying and in TC 13.5 Stock category it was B.A. Arnaldi on pole, followed by Edoardo Repetti and Rok Rudl, all drivers using the XRAY T4 cars. In F1 category, it was Matej Dobnikar on pole, followed by Andrea Ghilotti and Valentin Mis. All driving XRAY X1 cars.
After lunch, when we eat also the XRS cake with some wine, it was time for the group photo and then the preparation for the finals.

| In the TC 13.5 Stock category it was a fight for victory between B.A. and Edoardo. In the first final it was as close as possibleâ¦just 1,5 tenth separating both at the end. In the second final B.A. pulled a little away and won with a bigger gap. In the last final both were again very close, but B.A. already won the race in the second round. On third spot it was a very fast and consistent Rok Rudl coming third twice. |

| In the F1 it was a big fight between Matej and Andreaâ¦sometimes too much fight, which costed both a lot of time especially in the second final, where Luca Girotto took the opportunity and went to second place. With Matej winning the first and second final the winner was already known and also the second place was quite good in hands of Andrea, but the battle for third was still alive. Since Valentin lost also a lot of time in final round 2, he needed to finish second in the last final in order to chase the last podium spot together with Luca. At the end Luca got the last podium place. |

Again it was a fantastic opening of the season with the Genius ring practically sold out and drivers very happy with the whole event. After the prize ceremony we had a tombola with some great prizes!
