Report by Dominic Quek
UrbanRC hosted the third round of the Urban Touring Series this past weekend, featuring more than 30 entries in the premier 17.5 blinky touring class, despite several local racers unable to attend due to other commitments. However, the competition to make the 8-car A main seemed to be even higher than before.

Team XRAY Singapore's Zaccheus Lam and Esmail Apandi put in fantastic runs to secure TQ positions in Q1 and Q2 respectively, with myself (Dominic Quek) finishing in 2nd place for both rounds, leading to a showdown for the overall TQ in Q3. With almost the entire top heat running fresh tyres, I managed to take the TQ in Q3 with the fastest time of the day, winning the tiebreak by just 0.2s to start on pole position for the triple A finals. My teammates Zaccheus and Esmail lined up right behind me in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. After the bump up races, there were 5 X4s in the 8-car A main!

Right before the start of A1, an incident with another car at full speed (100% my own fault) left my car completely tweaked and with several broken parts, but I had to start the race with the car as it was. Miraculously, the car was still drivable and I was able to hang onto the lead, winning the final by 0.1s in front of Esmail, while Zaccheus had an incident with a marshal and lapped car which left him in 4th. A2 did not go as smoothly for any of us, as an incident-filled race left me 3rd with DNFs for Esmail and Zaccheus. Their misfortunes continued in A3 but thankfully I was able to pull away and take a comfortable win to seal the overall victory and extend my championship lead!
