Round 1 of the Danish Nationals was held on October 1st in Tollose, at the Agip track where I chose to race in 2 classes: Modified and 19T.
Modified:
During the qualifying rounds my car just got better and better but it was a bit slow, because of improper tire additive and also a few driving mistakes. I drove my car into the A-Main in 2nd position right behind my teammate Soren Boy Holst.
Due to some ’ goings on’ with the organizing club, it was decided only to run 1 final.
In the final I unfortunately made a big mistake, so in the A-main I finished in 3rd place and Soren finished in 2nd place.
1. Kim Lindegaard − XRAY
2. Soren Boy Holst − XRAY T2
3. Michael Ravn - XRAY T2
19T:
I was driving the XRAY T2 Raycer and the car was excellent to drive. I did not make any huge changes to the car, but rather only made some changes to the flex… from standard to medium flex.
After the 1st qualifying round I was in the top 8.
The 2nd round was better for me. I was as fast as the other guys, so after the 2nd qualifying round I was in 5th position and could hold that spot for the finals.
Since we only had to drive 1 final, it was all or nothing. I got a good start, and immediately went into 3rd place. After fighting my way forward, I finished in 2nd place. But after the race was done, it seemed there was a mistake in the results; as it happened, the error was with my transponder, so therefore I officially finished in 8th place.
I would like to thank Hobby Importen for lending me the T2 Raycer.
Final results 19T class:
1. Michael Johnsen
2. Nikolaj Nielsen
3. Soren B. Sorensen
4. Jon Brun 5. Johnny Nygaard - Xray T2
6. Allan S. Nymark 7. Morten Grundtvig - Xray
8. Michael Ravn - Xray T2
