Report by Luke Lee
Round 2 of the F1 nationals, a super-hot weekend that couldn’t have been any more different from the very wet round 1!

After a great days testing on Saturday I went into qualifying with some confidence and straight away setting a super-fast 5 minute time, and even doing a lap below the minimum fastest lap time on the computer, a 16.97!
Round 2 was also good, the car becoming a bit loose with the temperature rising but still a fast enough time to take P1
We made a change for round 3, but this didn’t work out so I parked the car early to save the tyres as I had already secured pole position

With the car on pole we felt best to leave the car as it was and try to take the first final without making a change that could make it worse, and after having Michael follow me very close for 5 minutes I managed to take the first leg
For leg 2 we put the car back to how it started the day, this would give back some steering we lost but loosen the rear making it harder to drive but ultimately faster, this was shown in the result, taking 2 tenths of a second off my fastest lap, taking the win, and the overall win
Leg 3 we left the car setup alone again, and I turned on attack mode, with the win already secure and nothing to lose I pushed the car hard and it responded well, taking another 2 tenths off of my fastest lap, doing a 17.00, my second fastest lap of the weekend and the fastest 5 minute time of the weekend and possibly the fastest time for an F1 around West London!

This result gives me 2 wins from 2 rounds, continuing the great start to this year’s nationals

Report by Ben Cosgrove
The X4F team headed to round 2 of the UK national series which was at the West London track. This track is very bumpy, has low to medium traction and also has some very large curbs ready to throw the car into a roll or a jump/spin if you get too close!!

We were very excited to debut the brand new X4F 24 cars which were officially released the day before this meeting! Ben had had a shakedown run in the week setting a new track record at Bedworth in the process and hopes were high for a solid debut.

There was only 2 X4F 24s present as some of the team were unavailable to join this round so we both started with the same setup and went about our testing to maximise the cars together. After 7 runs of practice we showed great speed and consistency and after a debrief we had a good direction to go on Sunday.

Sunday qualifying went very well for Ben securing the overall TQ but Ethan just missed out on the main qualifying 11th from a lower heat. Ethan showed great pace including a p5 in 1 round but this track needs you to be in a good heat to follow others and not get traffic as FWD racing is so close a small lift off can drop you a couple of grid places!!

The finals had some great racing for both Ben and Ethan with Ben taking the leg wins in leg 2 and 3 after some very close door to door racing! Ethan also had some great battles but unfortunately dropped back to 3rd overall in the B.

This meant the X4F 24 had taken the TQ and Win on its UK national debut! Ethan also secured 2nd in the Under 17 category and Chloe Cosgrove using Ben’s MICC winning X4F 23 won top Under 13 and 3rd in the F Final!

The new X4F 24 performed brilliantly out of the box! We only made a spring change and a rear roll bar change to suit this track! We even ran stock diff and shock oils and kit shims! This car is a seriously good car and we look forward to the rest of the season. Please contact Ben or Ethan for any more information/questions through there social media channels at any time.
