The first leg of the Italian Nationals was held on May 13-15 at Green Park Track in Palazzolo sullâ™Oglio. Team XRAY was lead by our 1/8 gas star and Italian XRAY distributor Fabio Domanin. We met on Friday morning at the track, and we had planned to test several motors that day as well as refine our set-up for the track conditions. The cars were performing very well so we were confident of a good result.

To our dismay, on Saturday morning we found the track flooded by a persistent rain, so the organizers decided to cancel the 3 qualification rounds that were scheduled for Saturday, and re-schedule everything for Sunday: 4 qualification rounds and finals.

With a very tight time schedule the qualifications went through with two unfortunate rounds for me and a good performance of Niky Duina, who grabbed 2nd position on the grid in the expert class. I was 9th due the two bad rounds which in the round-by-round system moved me down the grid.

So the first leg is gone, and we are happy about the car performance.
With some better luck we may have achieved a more satisfying result, we still have to work on motors and batteries to take advantage of the FKâ™05 performance. We now look forward to the next race to be held in July at the track in Florence.
