Race report by Alexander Hagberg
The first ever Reedy Race for the 1/12 class was held at the centre:mk in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom. The race was run on a temporary track in a big shopping mall. This great initiative was a result of some long term planning done by Reedy in co-operation with the British governing body, the BRCA. The result was a fantastic event, very well organized, with attention to detail in every area. Never in my career have I attended an event or venue where so much effort was put into promoting our sport to the public! This was really great to see!

The Reedy race format featured 10 runs of heads up racing, with the best 7 results to count. After a long weekend, I found myself in 3rd place overall. Even after setting the fastest overall run, as well as the quickest single lap time, my scores were only enough for 3rd. Unfortunately I had some bad luck during the runs on Saturday, with bad starts in particular, that sent me down the order. The pressure was on for Saturday, if I was to have any chance for even a podium position. But after finally dialing my car and my driving in, I ended the event with 3 straight heat wins. It was a good finish to an otherwise frustrating experience at times.

Olly Jefferies also showed a very strong pace, but was just like myself, a victim of bad luck and unfortunate start crashes. With more luck, we both had the chance to win the event. Olly had to settle for 4th place overall.

Overall, I think the Reedy Race format was enjoyable, especially as an event which attracted many spectators - and especially those that were not previously familiar with the sport.

In the LMP3 category, my fellow Canadian Boyd Chwartacki did well to finish 5th overall with his X12! Boyd also finished off his racing on the Sunday in the best possible way with 3 straight heat wins! XRAY turned the heat up - if a bit too late!

It was a pleasure to hang out with the XRAY UK team again, with good fun on and off the track!
