The RC Planet Xenon Cup 2008 (Malaysia) was on the June 1st weekend at the RC Planet SS19 Track. The layout for this competition was very technical with lots of chicanes and a single straight about 25m. Traction was low to medium with weather that was cloudy and sometimes shiny towardsthe late morning. Overall,the track condition was great for the competition.

The race format consisted of controlled practice, pre-Qualifying (3 minutes for each group [best lap placement]), qualifying & Finals (5 minutes for each group).
It was a âśBest Heatâť system of three heats and (5 minutes per heat):
⢠3 finals for âśAâť Main- best 2 finals combine point system
⢠2 finals for âśBâť Main- all 2 finals combine point system
⢠1 final for âśCâť Main onwards

This was the first competition after young Andre (11 yrs) joining Team XRAY Malaysia with the Xray T2â™008 EU 6 cell kit. You can imaging our excitement and anticipation for the race with this fantastic car after getting the car in early May.
We arrived at the track around 7:00AM and immediately set up our equipment. The track was closed for final inspection as early as 7:00AM and later opened for a short control practice session at about 8:30AM. Soon after registration checking and marking of attendants, the new Xenon 23T brushed motor was distributed to all racers. This was a controlled race that required all racers to used a handout marked 23T motor with Xenon tyres, insert, and rims.
There was a maximum of 2 sets of tyres for qualifying and an extra new set of tyres was allowed only for A main finals.
