Race report by Zack Barry
This past weekend (march 26th-28th) the 1/18th scale indoor off-road nationals were held at Rc Madness in Enfeild Connecticut. As always this was a great race ,with about 150 entries, lots of competion and plenty of different classes. This year again I raced 4wd mod, 4wd stock, mod Buggy, and open mini monster.

Practice was held every day the week before the race and I had everything dialed in and was feeling very confident. During qualifying on saturday I did very well and Tq'd every class I was racing. With my buggy, (which is a converted xray m18t pro) I had the only 18 lap run of the weekend. In mod truck class I set tq on the third qualifier after finding an awsome tire setup. I ended up using the xray mini monster foam tires. They were much larger in diamiter and width, which made it much smoother for going over the jumps, and especially the ripple section of the track.

Sunday morning the mains were held and first up was my stock 4wd race. Throughout most of the race I had a good half a track lead on second place. Unfortunatly I ended up running full speed into a small childs foot on the straight away, when he jumped on the track to run across and flip over another truck. This bent the downstop on my wheel hub so that it was rubbing against my tire acting as a brake for the last minute of the race. Fortunatly i was still able to hold off at a slow pace getting second place. Next up was the 4wd mod main. I jumped off to an early lead and was able to hold it off throughout the entire race. Right after that race was my mod buggy A main. This was a great race also with lots of competion. Once again I was able to drive cleanly and pull off the win. Finally , the last race of the day was open mini monster. I was a little nervous about it as the truck was not handling so great during my practice laps, but it was to late to pull it off and see what was going on. Luckily, I was able to adjust my driving to it. I had been passed by a few trucks off the start, but I caught right back up and held them off. Overall I was very happy with my standings.

After all the races were over, the best drivers from every class were all put together in one final race, the supermain. This was a battle for the best as it was full of great racers all running different vehicles. Off the start I blew away and had a quick holeshot. Right behind me was Team Scream driver John Cravotta. For about half the race we had a great battle going back and forth. Soon john made a mistake and I started to pull away getting farther each lap and held it all the way to the end.

Overall this was an awsome race with lots of competitive drivers and great people! I hope even more people will see how fun 1/18th scale racing is and it will only keep getting bigger and better.
