Race Report by Eric Dankel
For the last couple of years, the first big carpet event of the winter season is the ETS in Kastellaun. The popularity of this series has increased rapidly, which was proven by the large number of entries for this year’s event: over 260 drivers!

The XRAY Support Team was present at the event to support all XRAY drivers… and this year XRAY became one of the main sponsors of this series. As a big ‶thanks※ to all XRAY drivers, XRAY provided a free package which included T-shirt, pit towel, and stickers. Plus, during the whole event, German distributor SMI was providing service with spare parts and optional parts for all XRAY drivers. Technical help was provided by team drivers to make sure that everyone was happy with their cars’ set-ups and performance.

This race was the first race with the new T3’11. The handout tires made all the cars quite difficult to drive, as they were overheating very quickly which let to cars almost stopping in the corners… ‶unpredictable※ was a term heard very often. We could hear it right from the first practice when traction was low but the tires were making funny noises. However, the team found a good set-up that worked for most drivers. Most important was to use harder shock oil in the front than in the rear. The team found that the best combination was 500cSt (front) and 400cSt (rear). Plus, optional H roll centres allowed the car to roll better through the corners without stopping. Almost all Stock drivers found that the alu stands connecting the top deck to the dual steering was working very well, however Modified drivers did not use them because with more powerful motors the car was pushing a little more. For Stock it was a great set-up improvement.

Even though we were very unlucky in the Modified class – we finished 10, 11, 12, 13 – we had a good weekend in Stock class where we dominated entire race from first practice to last final.

Approximately 166 drivers attended in the Pro Stock class, and everyone had to use the SpeedPassion Speedo and Motor with fixed timing. On Friday we had 4 rounds of practice, the track was very special, and traction was high. The last round of practice was used to make a new reseeding for the qualifying heats, for the first round on Friday evening.

The second Main saw a little bit of trouble at the start. Eric Dankel again lead, followed by Oliver Franke and Tim Wahl. At the end of the Main, Oliver was pushing very hard to catch Eric but he had no opportunity to pass. So the second main was also won by Eric who secured 1st place overall for the new XRAY T3´11 car, followed by Oliver Franke and Alexander Stocker.

In the third Main, Eric Dankel lead right from the start and again opened up a huge gap, allowing him to lap everyone until 2nd place. After a very hard battle for 2nd and 3rd places, Martin Hofer finished ahead of Tim Wahl, respectively.
