Race report by RC Disco
The XRAY UK 8th Scale Off Road race team stormed the recent re-running of the awesome "Race Of Champions" with 7x (seven) XB808 2011 Spec cars in the A Final at this end of season race-off.

The Race of Champions is (was meant to be) the finale to the Top 20 racers in each of the SRS, NRS, 8-10 and the Scottish Series from the end of the 2010 season. As many are aware, that race unfortunately got rained off, and this was the re-running of that race, this time however, with much nicer weather!!

For the XRAY Team, Qualifying couldn’t have gone much better with 6x of the XRAY 808’s confirmed straight into the A Final and a couple in the B Final, of which James Bullivant managed to â€bump up’ into the A Final also…

Qualifying:

1. Milan Dragojlovic XRAY XB808'11
2. Greg Hill XRAY XB808'11
3. Stuart Mahon XRAY XB808'11
4. Collin Brennan XRAY XB808'11

5. Steve Biscoe
6. Lee Bunker XRAY XB808'11
7. Carl Richards XRAY XB808'11

8. Mathew Lawrence
9. Richard Greenough
10 Darren Hayden Ball

So with a strong Team presence in the A Final we thought it wise to hold a brief "Team Strategy" meeting to discus how we should try to attack the 25 minute long race, of course with 6x of us racing together, we didn’t want to take each other out or anything unprofessional… the ‶Team※ objected, and decided we were going to "just go for it"… race on it seemed!!

From the start, Milan led away with Myself in 2nd and Stuart chasing right behind for a few laps until the enevitable mistakes started to spread the field. Milan showed his pace and stretched a lead away from Stuart and myself. It wasn’t that long into the race when Stuart had engine/clutch issues and pulled off and had to retire, at which point i regained 2nd place and never let it go. There were further issues with Carl Richards and Colin Brennen having engine cuts, arguably due to the long race and hot temperatures which effected thier overal positions which was a shame as thier pace was right on the money and could’ve definately challenged for higher positions than what they ended up with… but this is racing and that’s what can happen!

So come the end of the 25 minute run time it was Milan that showed us all how its done around the Frankley track, followed by myself and Steve Bisco in 3rd. I should point out that Milan recently made the A Final at the BRCA National at the same track, so it wasn’t a great suprise that Milan showed us how it’s done.. i suppose for the start of the 8-11 Series also at Frankley, we should expect about the same (no pressure then lol)??
