Race report by Alexander Hagberg
The 3rd round of the popular Euro Touring Series was held on the Spanish holiday island Gran Canaria. The race was run on the beautiful asphalt circuit located in the city of Telde. The organizer had recently resurfaced the track, but unfortunately it had caused the traction levels to become extremely low - this made it difficult to find a good feel for the car as well as set-up, since the cars became very insensitive to set-up changes.

Most of the XRAY team were in attendance. Adrian Berntsen showed an early quick pace with his T4'14 as well as myself, also with a good feeling for the car in the early practice rounds. As qualifying commenced, it seemed that Ronald, Adrian and myself were a bit spaced out in pace from the others, but it was difficult for us to challenge Ronald as he seemed to have a lot of traction compared to anyone else.

For the Sunday's finals the organizer made an much respected and fair decision to introduce a tire impound - basically meaning that the tires could not leave the impound except for when they were ran at the track - with spec additive/cleaners being available as well. This was done upon request from drivers to try to make the event as fair as possible to anyone.

In A1, Adrian could pull away and win fairly easy as Ronald spun in the first corner. In A2, Adrian was again much faster than Ronald. Eventually they came together about midway through the run - I could benefit from this to take the win in A2. This made things look very good for our team going into A3 as it was simply only me or Adrian who could take the overall win. In the end we ran an uneventful race where Adrian finished 2nd and myself 3rd which meant that Adrian would be the overall winner and I finished 3rd overall. It was great to see Adrian take his first ETS win and having two XRAYs on the podium in this tough competition.

Magnus Vässmar also made the A-final for XRAY, finishing 9th overall. Marco Kaufmann narrowly missed out on the show, but drove great in the B-main to take a convincing win there.
