Race report by Jan Popic
This weekend I attended my first race for Austrian national championship this year. Race took place at Laa an der Thaya. I haven't drove on this track till this race, so everything was new for me.

We arrived on the training on Saturday morning. I've been searching form my setup for the whole day long, as the track was low to medium grip and so the car wasn’t the best. Alot of drivers had a same problem as me, because car was greatly understeered.

Sunday was race time, in first qualis car was quite good, but as I wanted to further improve that I’ve made some changes to the car. But then I was slow in next (2nd) quails, so I decided to revert old setup.

I have made some changes to the car during lunch break, hoping that the car will be more competitive for the finals. And it was…with some luck I managed to break through to first place, then it was an epic fight for first place till the last corner, where fellow racer passed me for 15 thousandths of a second, so I finished on 2nd place. In 2nd main I managed to come to the lead again, and then stayed there after close battle till the end.

3rd and last finals were decisive for 4 drivers, as we all were still able to win the overall race. I finished it on 2nd place, after my own fault as I nearly catched the leader, but then rolled over.

This was one of the hardest races for me, because all drivers were really equal and tiniest thing counts. I would want more of races like this, because I'm learning the most from them. Thank you all for great hospitality, to organizer for great and organized race, and last but not least thanks to my fellow racers for exciting and fair driving.
