Last weekend Mini Racing Ticino and Moesa held the first round of Swiss Nationals in Lostallo. The weather was perfect! The big news this year is the qualifying rules, we introduce the ENS rules with points. We run 4 rounds of qualifying with best 2 rounds counted.
In the 1/10th class this year there are 2 new drivers coming from the electric class, Raphael Wicki, driving XRAY NT1 and Florian Hauser. Florian Hauser was really fast and he took the TQ in 3 of the 4 rounds.

In the 1/8th class the fight was between the 2 worldâ™s finalists Simon Kurzbuch and Haechler Silvio, and also Mattia Pesenti who was really fast on his home track. Mattia took the TQ in the first run but Silvio Haechler took the TQ in the other 3 rounds. Simon had some trouble during the qualification and he took the 3rd place.
The 1/10th final was really nice to see because there were close fights for the first 4 positions. Michael Schäfer was in 1st position and trying to take the win but he broke the front belt in the last minutes so the fight was between the two electric racers, Wicki and Hauser. At the end Hauser took the win in front of Wicki. In 3rd position was another young Swiss talent Severin Schlehan who passed Michael Schäfer in the last 2 laps.
Also the 1/8th final was really nice to see. Mattia Pesenti had some trouble before the start and he had to postpone the start. Pesenti started from the box and he had to recover in order to fight with Haechler and Kurzbuch. Haechler was really fast and after 10mins he had half lap gap, Mattia Pesenti was in 3rdwith 8-9 second gap from Kurzbuch in 2ndposition. Unfortunately Silvio Haechler had some trouble and he stopped for about 2 mins.
Now the fight for the first position was between Kurzbuch and Pesenti who was pushing hard. Kurzbuch had a problem after refueling but did a mistake too, so the gap of 8 seconds didnâ™t change. After the tire change Pesenti was faster than Kurzbuch and he could recover a bit. Mattia and Simon had a different fuel strategy and it was impossibile to know who will win until the last minutes. Kurzbuch had to refuel at 2mins to the end and so Mattia had just to drive fast and not make mistakes.
