Round 5 of the Maltese 1/8th Nitro Offroad Buggy and Truggy 2015 championships was held on Sunday 24th May, at the MMORRC Rinella track. Though windy, the weather was warm and the track was quite dry and rough.
In qualifying, Kyle Spiteri, the Maltese current champion, got the TQ in both the buggy and truggy classes with his XB8 and XT9 respectively.
In the buggy main, Kyle had to settle for 2nd place as Dillon Cassar, his XRAY team mate and 2013 champion, drove an almost faultless race from 2nd on the grid to take the win. With Dillonâ™s win, this yearâ™s buggy title will go to the wire and will now be decided in the 6th and final round. Whovever wins between these two XRAY drivers will take the 2015 Buggy title. Chris Zahra finished in the 3rd spot.
In the truggy main, Kyle held the lead from start to finish. With this win Kyle has this yearâ™s truggy title almost under wraps with a round to spare.
