Report by Mathias Nedrebo
The indoor Norwegian Championships in 1/12 track 6.5T and 1/10 touring 13.5T was held last weekend by Vale Modellbilklubb on a large ETS carpet track in Holmestrand, Norway.
The event attracted over 80 participants in total including three support classes, namely 1/12 track 13.5T, FWD 17.5T and 1/10 touring 21.5T.
In 1/12, my car's performance was flawless and i TQed round 2,3 and 4 after crashing in Q1 and won the two first finals by a good margin.
In 1/10, Olav Dahle showed some great pace in qualifying and was fastest in Q1 and Q3. I was first in Q2 and had to win Q4 with a better time than Olav to take the TQ position, but I was unlucky and got hit in the rear by another car while passing. Top 3 after the qualifying were Olav, Me and Nikolai HÃ¥heim.
In A1, Olav made a mistake and i was able to pass him and hold the lead until the end.
In A2, Olav got a comfortable gap from the beginning as i had a slow start. Eventually, my car got more grip and i tried to close the gap to Olav when i flipped over on the curb after the straight, and finished 2nd.
A3 became a big chaos with a bunch of cars hitting each other on lap 2. It ended with Olav having to retire from the race and i was suddenly in 8th after a body tuck. Albin Ingholm was now the leader in front of Helge Johannessen.
I advanced through the field up to 3rd, about 5 seconds behind the lead. Then Albin and Helge made contact and I was lucky enough to pass them both and take the overall win.
