Race report by Alexander Hagberg
The 2nd ever XRAY Challenge Greece was once again held at the Fanatix Race Track outside Athens. Some 50 entries in total, split on EP and GP classes, contributed to a nice and fun event, held over a single day, with both qualifying and finals.

In the GP class, I managed to take the TQ position after a fast and clean run, some 8 seconds in front of Greek driver John Sotiropoulos, and the XRAY pairing of Nikiforos and Dimitrios. I went on to win the 45 minute encounter as well after a trouble free final, a good tire and fuel strategy that paid off with the win, some 12 seconds in front of Sotiropoulos. Unfortunately for my XRAY team mates, they suffered from various engine issues which prevented them from fighting for the remaining podium spots. It was nice to finally take a win with the NT1 2015 after various struggles and bad luck in the previous nitro events this year. I want to give a special thanks to Philip and Nikos for great pit work!

In the EP class, I had to adjust my setup a bit for my T4, to better suit this low grip, high speed track. As the local XRAY driver Nikos Georgiadis was very fast, I went towards his setup in terms of flex and roll center positions. This paid off dividends as I had a very good car at the end of qualifying, which meant that I could take the overall TQ position with a steady FTD run. I followed that up by taking tone to tone wins in all three mains. Nikos followed me closely especially in A3 and did a good job to take the runner up spot. Another Greek XRAY driver, Papachristos, managed to finish 3rd overall after a solid drive.

On Friday night, prior to the event, we held an XRAY Workshop session at the Fanatix Models shop. The workshop consisted of a small presentation of my T4 and NT1 cars, as well as Q&A with the attending drivers. It was a great opportunity, once again, for the customers to have an insight in some of the key elements of preparing and running these cars professionally.

I want to send out a big thank you to Fotis and everyone from Fanatix for the great hospitality! Thanks for hosting a fun event. Racing in Greece is nice and relaxed, and needless to say, the weather conditions are always perfect – I hope to come back soon!
