Report by Tom Yardy
Due to COVID our usual regional championships couldn't go ahead this year. In its place is a new series call the Mid West Supercup. The first round of the new series was 4wd at the Oswestry model car club's tight and technical Astro turf track.

This series has a unique format of 3 qualifiers and 3 legged mains for all, rather than just the usual A main. The weather had been very wet the day before and the track was very wet to start the day. For practice I ran my XB4'21D due to the low traction and was happy with the feel. With no more rain falling, it was now time to watch the track ahead of qualifying.

My first qualifier started well but with such a tight track, traffic would be an issue and due to a few errors while trying to overtake, I would finish 2nd for the round. We decided to increase rear and center diff oils and switch to the Schumacher Mezzo tyre and with more consistency I went on to TQ the remaining rounds to take TQ overall.

With the track now much drier we switched to the XB4'21C for the mains and it felt awesome! I was able to win the first 2 legs and take the overall win ahead of the Schumacher pairing of Ben Pugh and Kev Lee.

4WD results:
1. Tom Yardy (TQ) - XRAY XB4
2. Ben Pugh
3. Kev Lee

The next round of the Supercup is 2wd on May 23rd at Kidderminster- can't wait!
