Race report by Ian Cloud
With this being my home track, I knew I had a great car that was going to be very hard to beat. On Friday practice I only ran 4 packs through the car. On the 4th pack I broke my previous lap record and I was the only 2wd stock 17.5 buggy to go into the 25 second barrier. When I saw these time, I knew my XB2 was going to be the car to beat.

Arrived at the track Saturday morning to a very cloudy day, while we were having drivers briefing there was thunder all around us. And then the rain came down. No racing until further notice for us. At 12pm a call was made that we would start racing at 12-30. Racing got underway and the conditions were not great, track was still a bit wet. 1st round and my car was a handful to drive as we do not drive in these conditions. But took TQ for the round. Rounds 2 and 3 the track was back to normal and my car came back to life. I took the TQ run in all 3 rounds I secured TQ for our second nationals for 2021

Sunday finals day and I was still very happy with my car, no changes made at all on the car and I knew if I kept my head, I had this event in the bag. First final and I broke the pack early and made a run for it. With every passing lap I managed to keep stretching the gap to second place. Buzzer and end of the first race. Very happy as I took the win. This was a relief and knew I only needed to secure one more win to take the event. Second round and still no changes to the car, buzzer went and I ran off and had an early break as there was tangling behind me with the rest of the field. I had a comfortable lead and didn't need to push the car to its limits the entire run. Buzzer goes and I took the win for that round and that win secured me the overall win for the weekend as well.

With this result I am now leading the overall championship so far as we look at heading off to our next national in 2 months time. Hoping to be able to keep the same result and form at that event.
